Project 722 = Jaws Replacement

On December 19th, 2011, Universal Orlando filed a new demolition permit (DEM2011-00109) with the City of Orlando. The permit’s description reads: “Project 722 – demolition of single attraction with several components”. The address lists the permit location as “1000 Universal Studios PZ B66“. Those of you that follow Halloween Horror Nights construction will immediately recognize this location as the Jaws queue building, as B66 has held such haunts as this year’s Saws N’ Steam and last year’s The Orfanage.

Now, what’s Project 722, you ask? Well, a quick Google search for “Project 722″ +Universal revealed a couple LinkedIn profiles listing “Project 722″ as their current project. Both of these people’s profiles also had Harry Potter films listed in their previous work sections. Running another Google search for “Project 722″ “Harry Potter” revealed even more profiles, and sure enough, they all have one thing in common. Every single person working on “Project 722″ has worked on one of the eight Harry Potter films, and some of them have even worked on “Project Strongarm”, the code name for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Islands of Adventure. I’ve listed a few of these profiles below:

UPDATE: All references to “Project 722” have since been removed from LinkedIn, but the original profiles are still listed below.

It would only seem logical, given the people involved and their previous work, that project 722 is also Harry Potter related, so I think it’s a pretty safe bet to say that Project 722 = Harry Potter expansion = the Jaws replacement.

Now let the speculation begin on what 722 stands for! My guess? The number 722 could be a reference to the high security vaults in Gringotts Bank (all vaults 700+ were high security, were they not?)

Spread this rumor on:
