Michele from Nightmares:

I happened to be in the right place last night, and I got a little bit of information on the project.

1. It will not be a permanent haunt
2. They are constructing a HUGE building that will house a ride
3. New ride is slated to open June 2013
4. They have never moved this fast on construction before

Such a fast construction schedule implies that it's something they feel comfortable building at such a high speed, and likely have a majority of the stuff pre-made.

Can really only be Transformers...

EDIT - And with that, say farewell to the Monsters Cafe. I expect it to get rethemed as well...

Screamscape (I know...) has reported Disney is Blue Sky developing a Marvel theme park as a third park for California, and will be developing a similar park for Dubai. I imagine that Disney would want to buy out Universal's license of Marvel before a full theme park would be announced/built.

EDIT - But that's beside the point, and should really lead to another thread.

I think Monsters will likely be rethemed regardless of the attraction. Which is sad, because it's my favorite restaurant at Universal.

We finally have a project name/number:

PROJECT 609

Going with the obvious...

609 is the area code in Jersey that includes Trenton, Princeton and Atlantic City. Some interesting people from those cities:

Peter Benchley, author & screenwriter, Jaws, The Island, lived and died in Princeton.
Ethan Hawke
Albert Einstein
"Indiana Jones"
John Lithgow
Christopher Reeve (Superman)
"Parts of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen were filmed in Princeton. Megan Fox and Shia LaBeouf were filming on Princeton University campus for two days during the summer of 2008."

More to follow...

I really don't see Monsters Cafe leaving. It is facing away from any possible entrance/facade for the new ride and was never really a problem before. Especially if the new show building is themed to a Soundstage as well, with only the entrance getting a full facade.

I would miss Monsters Cafe more if they actually improved the food.

With the speed they are moving on this it only makes sense they are putting in an attraction they have already done before (aka Transformers) I don't think they would be able to put up a brand new ride in the year time line

And if it didn't have such an aberrant roach problem.

Maybe there will be something different about it.

The only difference I see it having is. . . It is in Orlando. I doubt it will be anything more then a copy and paste. The ride is built the soundtrack and voice overs are all done. It is not a bad thing, it just shows that universal studios orlando and hollywood will have most of the same stuff.
