A couple of months back, Park Rumors posted an article about new "Promenade Decks" coming to CityWalk. Construction has been going on for a while now and forum member Lizz just informed me that the first deck is OPEN!

According to her, it just has a small drink bar and some deck chairs (I'll let her provide details later). She might be nice enough to provide pics as well.

But Ch...ch...ch...Changes...

Wow that was fast. I'm hoping it will be more than that as it goes along though.

So Ron and I visited the new deck on Wednesday night while waiting for Chris to show up an hour late to his own event ;). I neglected to take pictures, but I will try to take some before I leave this weekend (forgot again yesterday... d'oh!). For now, there's a Fat Tuesday extension in the bar offering four types of frozen alcoholic beverages. I got a Pina Colada, and it was tasty as always. The bartender instructed us to go out on the deck and enjoy the chairs/view, but since it was so sunny and warm... it wasn't quite appealing at the time.

Not sure if the bar service will offer more options in the future, but for my purposes, it was pretty darn convenient. Being able to just walk up and purchase a drink without having to go through the club area was nice! I made an impulse buy, and I could see the decks being a very nice spot to relax when it's not 90 degrees.

Not deck related news, but noticed that they were putting up the stage on the water front landing as we were leaving the concert tonight. Anyone know of anything coming into Citywalk that needs a big stage?

Late notice, but the next set of decks are open. I didn't walk by to see what was there, but I could see some kind of concession or something from afar.

Spotted the new deck open last night. But, as tradition would have it, forgot to take a picture after partaking in a delicious beverage from Margaritaville. Oops.

So far the deck includes a Pearl Diver mini-shop. From afar, it looked like... pearl jewelry? Similar to the ones found at Epcot or Sea World. There was a second kiosk on the deck, which I presumed featured alcohol, but did not investigate further.

They really aren't worth pictures. When I saw them I thought to myself "That's it?"
I did take pictures but they were so unremarkable I deleted them.

At first when I heard of the plans to build these decks I thought it would look silly, but after seeing them in person they actually do look really nice overlooking the water. It makes the area look much nicer rather than an empty space. I probably won't have much use of them for another year, but I still like them.

After all the decks are finished I expect some landscaping to spruce up around them.

Finally scoped them out last night and, honestly, I really like them. We grabbed a drink at the Fat Tuesday's deck and grabbed some seats. They are quiet and out of the way, which is something CityWalk was sorely lacking (that particular combination at least). I wasn't sure what my thoughts on them would be, but they really are perfect for the area.

Agreed. Visited the decks on Saturday night during an impromptu evening trip to City Walk. They're actually quite lovely at night, although City Walk was swarming with people. Along with the Fat Tuesdays deck, there is also a separate deck featuring a more standard bar which serves appetizers and mixed drinks. I didn't see a drink menu, but they looked to have your standard liqueurs required for mixing.

I've liked the idea from the beginning... As we get there early for HHN to take advantage of the 4:00 admission; I can absolutely see us stopping by one of the decks to enjoy a drink, scenery and ambiance. I'd rather be outside in the mix, rather than inside a CityWalk venue.

Looking forward to seeing them in person.

We'll have to hit that up some night in a few weeks once the tour groups have left the premises! I want to try a dip n dot sundae!
