Universal announced today it’s involvement in a massive indoor sports-and-entertainment complex to be built in Russia. The complex, called called “Galactica Park” will feature an indoor Universal Studios theme park, water park and CityWalk shopping and dining district. Construction of the complex is set to begin in 2014 with an estimated completion date of 2018.

“Russia is an important and attractive market and we see significant potential for the kind of themed entertainment experience we offer,” Michael Silver, president of global business development for Universal Parks & Resorts, said in a written statement. “Entertainment is a global language and we will be delivering the same thrills, excitement and unique family experiences that Universal’s worldwide theme parks are known for creating.”

The concept art, included below, shows off several recognizable areas/attractions:

The Egyptian themed building is likely a Revenge of the Mummy coaster or similar attraction. Above that is what looks like a condensed version of Seuss Landing, with a Caro-Seuss-El, High in the Sky Seuss Trolly, and Green Eggs and Ham restaurant. Running across the back of the park looks to be a Jurassic Park River Rapids ride. Coming back to the front of the park is Universal’s staple marquee, The Pantages Theater, which will likely house a show of some sort. And finally, on the right side of the park is what appears to be a racing or driving attraction that winds through some city facades. Given the popularity of the Fast and the Furious movies, and that they are from Universal Pictures, this might be a Fast and the Furious attraction.
We’ve also included a few more concept images below, showing off the water park, CityWalk, and the exterior of the massive indoor complex. Enjoy!Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

In Russia, there is no water, only Vodka. Makes "Water" Park much more enjoyable. Just try not to get it in your eyes.
